| Dr
Henderson graduated with an Honours degree in Electrical Engineering from
the University of Edinburgh in 1979. He joined NEI Peebles Ltd in 1980 as
a Project Engineer in the Systems Engineering department. In this position,
and also as a Senior Project Engineer with the same company, he spent much
of his time on motor drive, generation and small hydro-electric projects.
Since 1986 he has been with Edinburgh Napier University and is a Senior Lecturer teaching Power Engineering. He is presently School Director of Student Experience. In 1992 he completed a part-time Ph.D. research study on the subject of a Three Phase Electronic Load Governor for Micro Hydro Generation. His current research interests lie in the solar energy, including the solar thermal generation, solar water heating and solar air-heating fields. He also works as a part-time consultant, predominately in the small hydro sector and amongst other projects, has recently completed several contracts for The Carbon Trust in Northern Ireland and Scotland. Dr Henderson was previously accredited under the Carbon Trust's Consultant Accreditation Scheme. Dr Henderson is a founder-member and the Chairman of the organising committee of the IET Short Courses on Electrical Generators and Distributed Generation Systems. |
